Three Updates: New Year's, Devo, Giving Grace!

1.02.2013

Hey friends! I hope your transition from 2012 to 2013 was seamless, exciting, and refreshing. I'm popping in with a few quick updates before I start my "out with the old" purge of all things Christmas over here.

FIRST, if you're looking for a devotional to start your year off, I really wanted to recommend the She Read Truth reading plan. It's only day 2 so you're not too late! I sing its praises from time to time on Instagram, but I feel like it is really important to invite you, urge you even, to join us for the "Fresh Start" plan. Maybe you're a mom like me and the routine of spending time in God's word falls victim to unpredictability of toddler moods, or the routine of staying feels a bit isolating at times. This plan has been easy for me to engage in no matter where I am since it's on my phone, and it's reading comments from other women, sitting at their breakfast table too, that enriches my faith almost as much as the word does. Oh, and sometimes getting your "quiet time" in means letting your company join you. Whatever works! Just get yourself in that word! :)

This month's study is called "Fresh Start", and we're taking a look at how God makes all things new. The intro asks, "Instead of resolving to get better, to grow yourself, to finally get it right- walk with us through His truth as we let Him do the getting it right." I love that. I need that. I don't know about you all, but sometimes I feel plum tired of trying to get right or get it right. It is God's grace alone that constrains, fuels, and maintains my faith. This Christmas has been a season of getting to rest in that for me. Of not being afraid of my sin because He has already conquered it, and of moving forward in the richness (and victory!) of walking with Him.  I look ahead at this summer and kind of shake at the sight of newborn nights, nursing, and a two year old. So I am clinging very very tightly to this time of preparation, growth, and refreshment! Join me if you'd like by going here!

Next up, New Year's Eve! I just wanted to share a picture of my date. Standing in front of our bathroom door. It was fun getting to see the insanity that is downtown Mobile on New Year's Eve, and even more fun to be a part of our friend's "Fuse Project" to support local children's charities. Oh, and Veda Jane had a blast cuddling in the new year with her gims! I suggested she come in town since she was in Atlanta with my little brother. "You're halfway here mom!" It didn't take much convincing. Thanks mom. One day I'll buy you a jet.

Last but not least- GIVING GRACE IS RESTOCKED! Grace sent brilliant spring colors to us this month, so if you want to snag one of her scarves for yourself (or a friend- Valentine's Day?) head over to her shop here. And remember- 100% of the proceeds go back to Grace in Tanzania so she can support her family! I'm guest posting about it here at The Scribble Pad!

That's all the brain-dumping I'll do for today. I hope your new year is off to a great start & you're all enjoying a very short work week!

I'm so thankful for She Reads Truth! I don't know if it will stay like this through this new plan, but I love how the past 2 days we've been able to read a good chunk of Scripture. In some of the past plans I felt like I was reading, praying, and done in five minutes. I like being able to read a little more each day!
