Did you know Mardis Gras actually began in Mobile, AL? I didn't either. Until we moved here and watched the city turn into a carnival of balls and 38 parades in 16 days to make it a known fact. I have to confess that I get giddy every time I drive through downtown and pass the flickering signs on food trucks boasting "corndogs" and "chicken on a stick". It is all I can do not to stop in for a basket of fried candy bars. We decided to indulge Veda Jane with the cultural experience on Friday, and even though she covered up her ears for the majority of the time, I think she was pretty impressed with the stuffed animals, beads, bubble gun, and oh! her first every moon pie!
